I can always tell when the school year is getting close. here we are in the middle of July and I am having dreams about school. That is a sure sign that I need to think about setting up the classroom and contemplate some ideas I have for the class this year.
My summer has been busy and exciting. I have a son who will be a senior this year, so we have been getting senior pictures taken and ordered, visiting colleges and taking him to an engineering camp. During the down times, I have read a couple of great books, worked on some technology for the school district, and crocheted a lot of dish cloths. I look forward to hearing about your child's summer in August.
Every year there seems to be some anxiety about starting 4th grade. It is a big year for children. They are no longer the "babies" of the school. They are considered a "big kid." There will be many changes in your child's life. Aside from all of the academics they will tackle, they will learn responsibility. I firmly believe that if children learn early that it is important to be responsible, the latter years in school will come that much easier for them. But just to let you know that I too have some anxiety at the beginning of the year. So as your child verbalizes their anxiety, you can let them know I get get nervous too and that it will all be alright and we are gonna have a super fantastic year. I can't wait!!!
Have a great rest of your summer and I will see you in August!
