are awesome reading skill this week this making an inference. the story we are doing for making an inference is dear mr.winston. on wensday we went on a filled trip to the hall of pride and the down town historical building. it was really fun in the two places. in math we are learning unit 2 math skills. and in eco hour we are leaning what plants can/cant make it in an frost.i want to give a happy birthday to David and Kadee because there b-days are coming up!!! what a awesome week at Mrs. Gilbert's classroom.
We had the best field trip today. The Iowa Hall of Pride is just awesome. So many famous Iowans. It really makes you proud to be an Iowan, and the State Historical Building really gave us perspective on how Iowa started and where we are today. Check out the pictures from our trip under the Celebration tab. the picture to the left is of Cooper playing a jumprope game at Hall of Pride. Can you believe it has been 50 days? It was so much fun to dress up in our best 50's outfits today. Conferences are over and so is the first unit in math and reading. We are now 2/3 of the way thought multi-digit multiplication. Students are doing a great job of learning the strategies I am teaching. One thing that is holding some back is not knowing multiplication facts. Keep practicing those every day for 5-10 minutes. In reading we have been delving into studying characters in stories. I recommend that students continue to read out loud to you and then have a deep conversation about the characters and a summary of the story. The October Popcorn Read-In will be next Friday, November 8th. A big thank you to Kadee and Ander's moms for the great treats they brought for our fall party. I believe this is the first year, in 23 , that the class has had healthier snacks and a dance party. A great time was had by all. Have a great week end and be sure to se your clock back an hour. Yea, we get another hour of sleep!!! |
